"While our literature has preserved the integrity of the A.A. message, sweeping changes in society as a whole are reflected in new customs and practices within the Fellowship. Taking advantage of technological advances, for example, A.A. members with computers can participate in meetings online, sharing with fellow alcoholics across the country or around the world. In any meeting, anywhere, A.A.’s share experience, strength, and hope with each other, in order to stay sober and help other alcoholics. Modem-to-modem or face-to-face, A.A.’s speak the language of the heart in all its power and simplicity." Alcoholics Anonymous - Forward to the Fourth Edition
The South Austin AA Online is an autonomous AA group born out of the need to provide a local online meeting to the recovery community in Austin Texas. We welcome anyone who has a desire to stop drinking. This is a safe and anonymous environment. No recordings of any kind are permitted. No logging of attendees or chats are retained. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help the alcoholic who still suffers. We believe that the 12 steps, as outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, work. Not only as a solution to the disease of alcoholism and addiction, but as a solution to living free.

MEETING GUIDELINES
Online Meetings, while by no means a new phenomena are new to many people who have recently had to switch to them in light of the pandemic. We have learned a few things that really work to make this an awesome recovery experience for everyone
We ask that you mute all microphones during the meeting except those of the speaker, chairperson and moderator(s). This policy may be subject to change during meetings if there are disruptions.
We have a Chairperson and a Moderator. The moderator generally will call on people who have their hands raised in order to share but the chairperson can assist.
The Chairperson reserves the right to mute or unmute during group prayers or not.
Basic AA meeting decorum must be observed. We will not tolerate predatory or prejudicial behavior against any member of the group. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help other alcoholics achieve sobriety. Please don't bring your outside issues into our room.
